When you go, diving is an fantastic way to experience the beauty of the water. My recommendation: Cartagena should be on everyone's "must visit" list. There were three experienced divers from Diving Planet with us, watching out for us, checking our comfort level, and pointing out under-water attractions. Let me just emphasize again that I felt safe and well-trained the entire time. In fact, at one point I was literally swimming in a large school of brilliant blue fishes. However, I was constantly amazed at how much ocean life I saw. Since I have never been diving before, I can't really compare my experience to anything. After our training, our 40 minute dive was truly beautiful. They spent ample time with us in a local island resort's swimming pool to teach us diving technique and how to work the equipment. First and foremost, my fiancee and I felt completely safe with the well-trained (and fluent English speaking) diving professionals from Diving Planet. The experience was nothing short of amazing. We were able to take a "mini course" that gave us sufficient training in the morning so that we could do a 40 minute ocean dive in the afternoon. While the entire trip was amazing, I enjoyed my time in Cartagena the most. I recently returned from a marvelous week (Spring Break 2009) in Colombia, including visits to Bogota, Rio Claro, and Cartagena.
